Professional artist, Kathy Hyatt, has been drawing for as long as she can remember. After graduating from Madeira High School in Cincinnati, she attended the ACA College of Design. While living in Pittsburgh, Kathy painting a nursery mural for a friend and from that single job, launched her mural, custom wall treatment and faux finishing business. While building the business, Kathy started teaching art classes to children in after school programs and with private lessons. Summer Art Camp was created 10 years ago and summer after summer, the camps are full with creative, curious 6-12 year olds. “It’s a nice change from what I do the rest of the year.”

In 2004, Kathy moved back to Madeira and started painting GardenART!stones to get into local art shows to market her mural business. The whimsical concrete garden stone’s popularity led Kathy to opening a retail space in Madeira in August 2009. In her storefront, Hyatt Art & Interiors, Kathy sells not only the garden stones but other painted items like flower pots, mailboxes, and bird baths. There is also an ever-changing selection of hand-painted furniture pieces in stock. Kathy works in the storefront on special orders and items that customers bring in to customize. If you need creative advice for your walls, your furniture, your garden décor, or anything else, Kathy can help.
“The best part of my job besides being my own boss, is definitely the variety of the projects I work on and the fun people I have met over the years. I truly attribute the successful launching of my storefront to my loyal customer base. Without them, it would not have been possible….or nearly as enjoyable!”
“In five years, I plan on still growing the retail business. I want to cut way down on traveling for art shows and just spend more time traveling. I want to be inspired by new surroundings as we visit our girls away at college. I look forward to taking on new projects with new challenges. And I look forward to meeting many more people who inspire me and laugh with me.” |
